PARIS NUIT BLANCHE 2010
Paris is known as the City of Light and this 9th annual festival « White Night » (Nuit Blanche) will light up the city from dusk to dawn. Lots of illuminations, street theatre, art and restaurants remaining open to the wee hours… There is a focus in the centre around the the Île Saint-Louis and Île de la Cité, but there are évents planned all over Paris and beyond. So get out to Belleville or Versailles or to the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées as you please…There should be something for everyone. Last year more than 1.5 million people enjoyed the festivities.
So what is so « sustainable » about this ? Well for the third consecutive year, there is a particular focus on senior citizens so that they too can experience this event… this is important in generating solidarity in this great city, mixing young and old alike.
Certain public transport services are also increasing their hours to enable people to get around easily, e.g. Metro lines 14 & 9.
